This recipe is a good one because the thick sugar mixture should grab your hair follicles and not your skin. Plus it’s not full of chemicals, and you can make it with whatever you’ve got at home.

Materials:

  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. raw honey
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • 1 microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 small spatula (like this one)
  • Thin cloth strips (like these)

Instructions:

Start by pouring all the ingredients into the bowl and giving it a good stir. Then cook it 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until you have a bubbling and golden brown mixture. Remove the mixture from the microwave and allow the wax to cool down. You want the mixture to be thicker in consistency, but not so thick you can’t spread it. If you need to add more water/honey/sugar and continue to cook, go ahead. When you’ve got a thick but spreadable consistency, you’re ready!

Using one of your spatulas, scoop up some of the wax and apply to the facial hair you want to disappear. Next, place a cloth strip over the wax and press and smooth with your fingers in the direction the hair grows. Now comes the hard part. Take a deep breath and pull the strip in the opposite direction that the hair grows using one consistent and firm motion. Continue until all unwanted hair is removed.

Using fresh lemon juice is awesome because the lemon juice acts as a natural anti-microbial agent to fight bacteria and prevent bumps. Plus the vitamin C is awesome for your skin! This is one of my favorite homemade eyebrow wax recipes!

Materials:

  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 2 tbsp. fresh squeezed lemon juice (this is important!)
  • 2 tbsp. water
  • medium sauce pan
  • spoon, spatula, cotton cloth pieces

Instructions:

Start by putting the sugar, water, and lemon juice in the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar begins to dissolve. Continue to cook for 8-10 minutes until the mixture thickens and darkens, similar to honey. When the consistency is right, remove from the heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.

While the mixture is cooling, prep your area by giving it a good scrub and making sure you know what you want to wax. Then use a small spatula to apply the wax in the direction of hair growth. Place a cloth strip over the area and smooth in the same direction while the wax cools more. Then using one continuous motion, pull the strip off in the direction opposite of hair growth. Continue until all that yucky hair is gone!

This recipe combines all the benefits of lemon juice and honey into one ultra-wax.

Materials:

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tbsp. raw honey
  • 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • microwave-safe bowl
  • spatula, cloth strips

Instructions:

In the microwave-safe bowl, mix together the sugar, honey, and lemon juice until combined. Microwave the mixture for 2-3 minutes, stopping to stir every 30 seconds. Your mixture should resemble a golden thick honey. Remove from the microwave and allow to cool a little. Using the same process as above, place the wax on the unwanted hair using the spatula and smoothing it in the direction of hair growth. Then place the cloth strip on top and smooth while allowing the wax to set. Using a smooth motion, pull the strip off in the direction opposite of hair growth. Repeat until you’re satisfied!
