In my house, pets are a part of the family! And in this family, we all dress up for Halloween, even our furry friends! But it can get really hard to find pet halloween costumes.

For the safety and comfort of my best doggie family members, I like to keep their Halloween costumes as minimalistic as possible. But just because they’re minimalistic doesn’t mean that they have to be any less amazing! Check out these incredibly easy costume ideas for pets!

Pet Halloween Costumes

Giraffe Costume

Though this costume might not be right for some pets (mine would try to chew this off himself) it’s an adorable idea nevertheless! Amazon has a great selection of full-body animal costumes for dogs of all shapes and sizes. There’s even an elephant costume!

A Witch (Or Wizard)

For my pets, I find it best to keep the costume accessories to a minimum. A simple bow tie, tie, or witch hat is enough to make your pup look holiday friendly! Find a great selection of headwear for pets here.

Arggg…Matey!

For the pet that is especially unfond of costumes, a simple neck kerchief is all you need for a perfect Halloween look. The pup below looks like he could take on anything the high seas throw at him! You could also use a simple kerchief to turn your pup into a cowboy, a pumpkin, or even a park ranger. The options are endless, and you can find more here!

Count Pupula

No dog I know would be content dragging a cape behind him, but with the right collar accessories, you could totally pull this off! Simply use pieces of elastic to attach an old shirt collar and red bow tie to your pup’s dog collar. For the red neckpiece, you’ll want to buy this from Amazon. It includes a cape, which you can elect to remove or not, but it makes the costume even easier to assemble.

Pup Princess

The simple accessories look great here, yet again! You can use a regular tutu for this costume, but it’s important to keep your pet’s comfort levels in mind. To prove to your neighborhood that your pup is royalty, I find that is a message easily conveyed through a tiara headband. You can find one available for purchase here.

Haunting Howls

If your pup will allow for it, one of the best costume ideas for pets is to turn them into a ghoul! You know how to make this classic costume–just cut mouth and earholes out of an old white bedsheet. Even if your pet will only wear the costume for a minute–the photo opportunities are terrific!

Life-Sized Chia Pet

You’ll need to find a dog sweater in the size of your pet for the base of this project. Once you’ve found one in an appropriate size, use a hot glue gun to attach pieces of fake aquarium plants to the outside of the sweater. Simply put it on your pet when it’s time to start trick-or-treating! If your dog is used to wearing sweaters, this could be a great costume option for you since they’re already used to wearing one!
