Simmering Fall Scents You Can Create On The Stove
Pumpkin Spice
2 cups apple cider or apple juice
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
3-4 cinnamon sticks
1 tbsp. whole cloves
1 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 an apple or dried apple slices
Mix all ingredients together on the stove and let simmer for up to six hours. You’ll get into the autumn spirit almost instantly!
Apple Pie
1 small apple thinly sliced
2 cups apple cider
1 tbsp. whole cloves
3-4 cinnamon sticks
1 tbsp. nutmeg
Begin first by bringing the apple cider to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, adding the rest of the ingredients to heat up over the next six hours. This scent is just as magical as the last. I find myself making this recipe almost every day during the Fall. I can’t get enough of how good it smells!
Orange Spice
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 apple, sliced
2 – 3 cinnamon sticks
3 – 4 bay leaves
1 tablespoon whole cloves
4 cups apple cider
Begin by adding the sliced apples and oranges to a sauce pan. Next, add the cloves, bay leaves, and cinnamon sticks, pouring the apple cider vinegar over top. Bring all ingredients to a boil before leaving the mixture to simmer all day long. This scent smells good enough to eat!
Fruity Fresh
1 lemon
1 orange
3-3 inch cinnamon sticks
6 bay leaves
½ cup whole cloves
Start making this simmering pot recipe by layering the lemon and orange slices at the bottom of a saucepan. Cover with water, topping with bay leaves, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. As always, bring the mixture to a boil, before turning it down to a simmer to sit all day. Feel free to refrigerate the mixture and use it again the following day.
