Every place in your shop that allows custom text is a great opportunity to optimize your shop page. Knowing specific keywords guests will type into the search bar will help you to draw them to your page. You want to place these keywords in titles, headings, body copy, and more. If you know that your specific clientele will be searching for “gold earrings” then be sure to include this phrasing in your shop text as often as possible. Even if you want to capture the search traffic for “cheap real gold earrings” then include this phrasing in your text and descriptions.

I appreciate the clarity of your article.
I am a passionate crafter/repurpose a6would like to explore Etsy as an Avenue to being involved more with what I love in life.
The advertising one’s shop is where I would have a very big challenge. What do you suggest for someone who doesn’t have family or close friends or the desire to put themselves out there to generate sales?
For example, if you make jewelry, WEAR AS MUCH AS YOU CAN EVERYWHERE & keep business cards w/you at all times. Start going to church & start volunteering for an organization you believe in to gradually make a few friends (who know friends who know more friends) who can eventually help you. Study craft shows a couple of times, then jump in w/a big, beautiful sign of your company name. Ask you doctor, dentist, etc., if you could quietly use a corner of their waiting room for a trunk show…don’t bother THEIR patients/customers, let them approach you when they see your beautiful display. Google all the places you can advertise on the internet and spend $ on a good website that you know how to run (remove discontinued items, add new items, upload photos, etc.).
Great Article ! Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks!
You’re welcome! 🙂
Etsy search is predictive, so you can put in a word relevant to your products and it will come up with suggested key terms to use.
