The key to having a clean, sparkling bathroom is to prevent soap scum and mold build up.
Use A Daily Shower Spray
If you are spraying down your shower after each use, you can lengthen the time between deep cleans. Buy something from the store OR make a solution yourself.
Mix the following ingredients together in a spray bottle:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- a little dish soap
- 10-20 drops of your favorite essential oil.
Keep your daily shower spray in the shower. After each shower, squeegee the door and spray with your daily cleaner.
Buy A Squeegee
Whether your shower is glass, stone, or tile, squeegeeing the walls and doors will greatly help reduce the soap scum build up.
Install A Water Softener
Hard water will build up scum and residue in your shower head and all over your shower walls, curtain, or doors. Installing a water softener will extend the life of your shower and every other appliance using water in your home like the dishwasher and washing machine.
Try Different Cleaning Solutions

Never Use Cleaning Solutions Containing Bleach
Bleach is not an effective chemical for cleaning soap scum off of glass. It can easily damage your grout and caulking. However, it can be used to kill mold.
